小一級滿月——成長的印記

為慶祝小一級孩子加入可譽大家庭一個月，本校於10月4日的全方位學習節，舉行了慶祝活動。除了有中國傳統滿月的紅雞蛋、紅包外，還邀請了家長及老師們為每個孩子進行打手印儀式。

當天孩子需在載有花朵圖案的紙上，先在花朵下方使用雙手打印，待他們小六畢業時，將在花朵上方多打一次。這個儀式寄予了本校為孩子送上的滿滿祝福——希望今天正含苞待放的花兒(孩子)，在可譽經過六年的孕育後，都能燦爛地盛放着。這是成長的印記，也是見證孩子人生重要時刻的珍貴回憶。

本校期待着看見六年後遍地盛放着花兒的美麗畫面……

P.1 Full Moon Celebration – The Handprints of Growth

Our P.1 students have joined the Ho Yu family for one month! Following our school’s tradition, P.1 Full Moon Celebration was held on 4th October to mark P.1 students’ first month of school life at Ho Yu. Besides giving out traditional red eggs and red packets to children, parents and teachers also attended the fun yet symbolic hand-printing ceremony.

The ceremony invited every P.1 student to leave their unique handprints at the bottom of the flowers on the colourful paper. Once they are in P.6, they will leave another handprint at the top of the flowers on the same paper. The hand-printing ceremony is a symbol of growth. We hope to send our best wishes to all P.1 students, as the young flowers of Ho Yu, so that they can eventually blossom by the nurture of our teachers.

Not only do the handprints mark the growth of Ho Yu children, they also witness children’s important milestones at school. We are looking forward to seeing a full bloom picture at Ho Yu after six years!

「善道同行」學生網上問答比賽

為了讓學生認識赤松黃大仙師的生平、嗇色園100年的發展及使命、道教文化，從而進㇐步實踐黃大仙師「普濟勸善」的精神，嗇色園教育委員會舉辦了「善道同行」學生網上問答比賽。

經過一輪比賽後，本校喜獲下列獎項：

‘Hand in Hand for Benevolence’ Student Online Quiz Competition

Organised by the Education Committee of Sik Sik Yuen, the competition is aimed to let students learn about the life of Master Wong Tai Sin, the 100-year development and mission of Sik Sik Yuen, as well as the Daoist culture, in order for them to uphold the principle of ‘to act benevolently and to teach benevolence’.

We are delighted to announce that our school is awarded the following prizes:

第十八屆陸運會(小學組)

本校於10月21日在校內為小一至小六級的孩子舉行了陸運會。當天孩子們分批輪流到達百米跑道、籃球場及足球場，進行不同的類別田徑比賽。孩子們在久違了的陸運會中，都表現積極及投入，還積極為同學打氣，充分發揮體育精神。

本校希望這場別開生面的陸運會只此一次，期待着來年度能親眼目睹孩子在運動場上的英姿。

18th Annual Sports Day (Primary Section)

The annual Sports Day was held on 21st October. P.1 to P.6 students participated in different track and field events in the running track, the basketball court and the football pitch at our school. These events were held according to junior, intermediate and senior levels. The Sports Day showcased the active participation and talents of Ho Yu students. They also exhibited incredible respect, support and sportsmanship by cheering for their schoolmates.

The joy and excitement was long overdue, but we hope we can bring together our young athletes to display their skills on the vast area of Sports Ground on future Sports Day.

「新」+「辛」= 可譽健球隊

            或許很多東涌家長及同學不清楚「健球」是甚麼運動，但相信可譽師生一定知道，因為在可譽定能經常看見一個巨型球體在球場上彈來彈去。

            健球作為一種新興運動，資源及配套比其他傳統運動來得少。場地是當中最大的問題，之前康文署不了解健球這項運動，所以不批准租借場地，同學只好於星期六早上走到港島區的私人場地練習。幸好現在健球漸漸普及化，同學能於文東路體育館打健球了。

可譽健球隊現今進入第七個年頭，由中學健球隊發展到小學健球隊，有些同學由初學者，到晉身香港健球代表隊，再回饋母校擔任校隊教練，當中的過程毫不輕鬆。但同學憑著對這項運動的熱誠及喜愛，每每於大型比賽中奪取佳績。可譽中學健球隊於8月參加了由香港健球總會舉辦的「港青京士柏健球校際賽2022」，於多個組別獲得佳績﹗獎項如下：

 Different & Determined = Ho Yu Kin-Ball Team

Many parents and students in Tung Chung may not know what "Kin-Ball" is, but I'm sure that teachers and students in Ho Yu know what it is because you can often see a giant ball bouncing around on the court.

Unlike traditional sports, there are not many resources and facilities for this newsport. In the past, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department did not acknowledge the newsport and no venue could be hired for students to practice. Every Saturday morning, our Kin-Ball players had to meet in some private venues on Hong Kong Island. Fortunately, the sport is now becoming more popular and students can now play it at the Man Tung Road Sports Centre.

The team is now in its seventh year. Both secondary school and primary school have their own Kin-Ball Team now. Some of the students have gone from beginners to the Hong Kong representative team and have become the coach of Ho Yu Kin-Ball Team.

There is no easy way to success, with their enthusiasm and love for the sport, students have performed well in a lot of competitions. The results are so encouraging.

In August, Kin-Ball Team members participated in the “YMCA King’s Park Inter-School Kin-Ball Competition”, jointly organised by the YMCA King's Park Centenary Centre and the Hong Kong Kin-Ball Association, and won a number of prizes.

We hope that their team spirit will be able to pass down from generation to generation and wish the team continued success in the future.

Ho Yu Students won “Outstanding Performance Award of STEM Alliance Member Schools”

由香港建造學院「STEM聯盟」主辦的「我的未來校園3D設計比賽」完滿結束，比賽作品深獲評審及建築業界讚許。本校S5C周俊軒、曹鎮康、范冠軍、徐培恩經過激烈的競爭，成功獲得「STEM聯盟中學傑出表現獎」。而另一小組，S6C陳晞朗、黃嘉浚、梁寶文、羅焯櫻則獲得優異獎。

比賽中，S5C的同學們敢於創新，將智慧校園、可持續發展等概念融入未來校園設計。同學的設計不僅打破人們對學校的刻板印象，以彎曲的流線型作為學校外觀，更勇於創新，以太陽能玻璃為建築材料，充分利用自然光及收集再生能源，達至可持續發展。同學能考慮自然環境、使用者的舒適度，足見他們在創新時不忘使用者及後代的需要，以創新的想法回應時代需要。同學這次的佳績令人鼓舞，期望他們能在敢於創新的道路上愈走愈遠，再創佳績！

Ho Yu Students won “Outstanding Performance Award of STEM Alliance Member Schools”

"My Future Campus 3D Design Competition", organised by STEM Alliance from the Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC), was held successfully on 27 Aug 2022. The quality of design presented by the finalists is very high and some are even close to professional standards! Judges were delighted to see students’ creative ideas applied on REVIT!

Our Secondary 5 students, Chau Chun Hin, Cho Chun Hong, Fan Kwun Kwan and Tsui Pui Yan, won the “Outstanding Performance Award of STEM Alliance Member Schools”. Our Secondary 6 students, Chan Hei Long, Wong Ka Chun, Leung Po Man and Law Chek Ying also received the merit award.

In the competition, our S5C students were bold and innovative, they designed their ideal campus under the theme of smart campus, sustainable development and shared space. For the exterior design of the campus, our students broke the stereotypes and themes in building designs by using the Streamline Moderne style. Besides that, our students used solar glazing as the building material, making full use of natural light and collecting renewable energy to achieve sustainable development goal.

Our students could take into account comfortableness and environmental protection, which is a testament to the fact that they have not forgotten the needs of the users and future generations, and have tried their best to meet to the needs of the times when innovating.  We hope that they will continue to be innovative and to achieve success in the future.
