可譽的小一至小四級孩子於一月進行了以「中華文化」為主軸的專題研習，他們於不同的範疇進行探索。在老師的協助下，孩子以「做中學習」(Learning by doing)形式，結合已有知識及技能，親自經歷資料搜集、整理、分析、綜合、反思等過程，作出結論，建構新知識。

我們希望孩子在是次研習中，不但能探究到跨學科知識，更能從中國的習俗、節慶及歷史等主題，深入體會源遠流長的中華文化，同時亦能提升批判能力、創造能力；通過與朋輩相處和合作，也學會了與他人協作和溝通等寶貴經驗，貫徹了初小「DEAR」學習計劃中所提倡「探索知識勇士」的精神，成為「學習小主人」，具備終身學習的條件。

In January, our P1-P4 students took part in project learning under the theme of “Chinese culture” and they explored in different aspects. Under teachers’ guidance, students learn in the form of “learning by doing”. New knowledge and understanding are constructed when students collect data, do analysis and reflect by themselves with the combination of their prior knowledge.

We hope that through project learning, children will not only explore interdisciplinary knowledge, but also appreciate the value of Chinese culture, and at the same time improve their critical thinking ability and creativity. By cooperating with their peers, they will also learn to collaborate and communicate with others, and become the “Warrior of Knowledge Exploration" mentioned in the "DEAR" learning programme for junior form students. They will become the master of learning which is crucial for their lifelong learning.

可譽於1月20日上午舉行了「新春同樂日」活動，當天一眾就讀小學的孩子齊齊穿上華服，透過多元的喜迎新春活動，如中國傳統剪紙、新春掛飾製作、設計具有事事順利寓意的風車、DIY兔年紅包摺紙等，一起認識及體驗博大精深的中國傳統新春習俗及文化。

至於小五及小六級孩子更秉承「以長帶幼」的中華美德，分別在禮堂及活動室，自創一個個別具心思的年宵遊戲攤位，予小一至小四級的學弟妹及區內就讀幼稚園的孩子玩樂。從小五及小六級大孩子帶領遊戲時所展露的滿足笑臉，加上學弟妹及區內幼稚園小孩子投入活動時的手舞足蹈，可見是次「可譽新春同樂日」已達到預期目標——把節日的歡愉及暖心的祝福傳遍東涌區。

當天同場舉行了「STEAM創意揮春迎兔年」親子比賽(幼稚園組)頒獎典禮，是次比賽的反應十分熱烈，共收到百多份作品，恭賀各得獎家庭，作品均十分精美，盡顯親子的心思，亦能把新春節日及本校一直所重視的「STEAM」元素充分反映出來。

最後，可譽謹在此再次感謝幼稚園、家長及孩子對「新春同樂日」及「STEAM創意揮春迎兔年」親子比賽的喜愛及支持，使之有聲有色，並得以順利完成。感恩在教育路途上，一直得到您們的擁護及愛戴，共同為豐富孩子的學習經歷而努力，不勝感激。

The morning of 20^th January, 2023 was the big day of ‘Ho Yu Chinese New Year Fun Day’. On that day, Ho Yu children wore festive Chinese traditional clothes together and learnt and experienced traditional Chinese New Year customs and culture through a wide variety of new year activities, such as the making of Chinese traditional paper-cut, new year decoration and the designing of windmill which has the meaning of ‘everything going well’ and DIY red envelope origami for the Year of the Rabbit.

As for our P5 and P6 students, they uphold the Chinese virtue of ‘Senior leads Junior’, set up self-designed Chinese New Year game stalls in school hall and activity room for junior students from P1 to P4 and kindergarten kids within the district to play. From the smiling faces of P5 and P6 students when leading the game, together with the exciting gestures of the junior students and kids from kindergartens in the district when playing the games and activities, we know that our goal of ‘Chinese New Year Fun Day’ has been achieved - to share ‘love and care to others’ and ‘happiness of Chinese New Year’ to the community.

At the same time, the prize-giving ceremony of ‘STEAM: Creative Fai Chun for the Year of the Rabbit’ Parent-Child Design Competition was held. The response to this competition was enthusiastic. Close to one hundred and twenty entries were received. Congratulations to all the winning families. The entries are very beautiful. They fully show the parent-child thoughts, and can also fully reflect the New Year's Day and the "STEAM" element that our school has always put emphasis on.

Finally, Ho Yu would like to thank the kindergartens, parents and children for their love and support for the "Chinese New Year Fun Day" and the ‘STEAM: Creative Fai Chun for the Year of the Rabbit’ Parent-Child Design Competition, which made it so exciting and successfully completed. We are grateful for the love and support from all of you, and working together to enrich children's learning experience.

提升個人品格明日領袖之星 —可譽同學參與「學生領袖訓練及品格培育計劃2022」

            為培養領袖潛能及加強品格教育，S5C黃安妮及黃思朗獲提名參與香港浸會大學舉辦的「學生領袖訓練及品格培育計劃2022」，促進個人成長，建立積極正面的成長心態。於2022年10月至12月期間，安妮及思朗與浸大及其他中學的學生參與七節共21小時培訓課程及小組活動，主題涵蓋活動籌備、團體協作、財政管理及青年與法律，加深他們在各專業範疇的認識，培養他們管理團隊的能力，以及籌辦活動所需要的技巧。

            活動結束後，安妮及思朗應用課程所學，撰寫及匯報計劃書。透過導師的專業講解和有趣多元的學習活動，促進他們的個人成長。冀望兩位同學日後能加以發揮潛能，成為明日領袖。

Tomorrow’s Leaders in the Making - “Leadership & Character Enhancement Programme 2022”

S5C WONG ON NI and WONG SZE LONG were nominated to participate in the “Leadership & Character Enhancement Programme 2022” launched by the Hong Kong Baptist University for personal growth and development of a proactive and positive attitude. From October to December 2022, together with students from BU and other secondary schools, ON NI and SZE LONG attended a 21-hour training course and small group activities in seven sessions, covering event planning, group collaboration, financial management as well as youth and law. The programme deepens their understanding of various professions, and nurture them with team management and event planning skills.

After the activities, ON NI and SZE LONG applied what they have learnt in the programme to draft and present a proposal. They have grown and learnt from professional instructors and various learning activities. Hopefully, both can give full play to their potential to be the leaders of tomorrow.

本年度榮獲「優化校園大獎」

由浸信會愛群社會服務處主辦，教育局及香港教育大學協辦的第四屆「樂繫校園獎勵計劃」已完滿結束。

計劃理念與可譽所堅守的不謀而合

可譽自本計劃誕生以來，便一直參與其中，因為本校認同計劃的宗旨——鼓勵學校營造著重連繫的校園氣氛，使學生在校園裏得到充分的關注，從而提升投入感和對羣體的承擔感。可譽深信，育人是教育的重中之重。

堅持育人信念  疫下深耕細作

正因如此，就算在共同抗疫的艱難環境下，可譽仍堅持為孩子設計多元的課程，提供不同的學習機會，還在校園內積極建立共融文化，提升孩子的抗逆能力，更致力提供輔導，積極推行正向教育計劃。希望孩子的品德情操方面，絕不會受到「新常態」的學習模式而有所卻步。

接連喜獲大獎   為育人工程打下強心針

可譽繼於第一、二屆獲得「行動大獎」及「創新大獎」，以及第三屆獲得「連繫特別獎」後，再次獲得肯定，於本屆榮獲「優化大獎」，教師團隊對此鼓舞非常，可譽長久以來為孩子所付出的，得到認同。

可譽將繼續努力，不忘初心，堅持為孩子深耕細作，期望每位孩子都具備熱愛生命、樂觀及積極的特質，裝備自己，迎接未來。

Parent-school partnership brings positivity: Ho Yu received awards in four ‘Hi-Five Student Engagement Award Scheme’

Ho Yu is awarded ‘School Enhancement Award’ this year

Ho Yu will continue to provide children with the best learning experiences, with a view to letting them shine with positivity and proactivity in their learning journeys.

Organised by Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service, Education Bureau and the Education University of Hong Kong, the 4th Hi-Five Engagement Award Scheme has successfully concluded.

Ho Yu Shares the Same Vision

The Scheme aims at encouraging schools to cultivate a positive school culture, thereby allowing students to build a sense of commitment and responsibility on campus. Sharing the same vision, Ho Yu has been actively involved since the commencement of the Scheme.

Value of Education Still Holds

In the face of the pandemic, Ho Yu still endeavours to provide an array of learning opportunities and create an inclusive environment so that students are able to cope in these difficult times. Despite the challenges while adapting the new mode of learning, our school remains actively engaged in promoting  the values of positive education to students. Our school hopes that ‘the new normal’ will not stand in the way of children’s moral development.

Awards: A Shot in the Arm

Following the ‘Action Award’, ‘Innovation Award’ and ‘Connection Special Award’ received in the first 3 years of the Scheme, our School is delighted to receive ‘School Enhancement Award’ this year. Receiving awards in four consecutive years is a recognition of the continuous efforts and achievements made by the teaching team of our school.

Ho Yu will continue to provide children with the best learning experiences, with a view to letting them shine with positivity and proactivity in their learning journeys.

「可譽滴滴金—男子籃球及可譽田徑勇奪金牌」

            新冠疫情肆虐多年，幾乎所有學校活動完全停滯。幸好本學年初疫情稍為降溫，一切漸漸重回正軌。當中最為慶幸的其中一件事，就是學界體育賽事得以重新啟動。

            可譽男子籃球隊本年出戰「荃離區中學校際男子籃球比賽（U19）」，他們，每星期除了課後恆常訓練之外，還會早上七時十五分回校進行「早訓」，風雨不改，以提升實力。他們「譽強愈強」，先於小組首名出線，最終決賽以51:44戰勝寶安商會王少清中學，奪得金牌﹗

            另外，可譽田徑隊亦有佳績，我校共派出81名學生參加「2022-2023年度荃灣及離島區中學校際田徑比賽」，經過早上、小息及午膳的重覆訓練，當中S4A 杜澋滔奪男子乙組200米金牌，S4C周琸珽奪男子乙組三級跳金牌，男子乙組4X100米接力賽亦奪金﹗

            金牌之路從來不易走，由一眾運動員每滴汗、每滴血、每滴淚拼湊而成，若在學校遇上他們，不妨向他們說聲：「辛苦你了﹗」

Ho Yu’s Got Gold Medalists!

The COVID-19 outbreak has taken its toll on Hong Kong, suspending most of the school activities. Fortunately, the epidemic situation eased earlier this academic year, and everything is gradually getting back on track. One of the most exciting news would be the resumption of inter-school sports events.

This year, the Ho Yu boy’s basketball team won the Inter-School Basketball Competition (Tsuen Wan & Island Secondary Schools Area) (U19). Despite after-school regular training on a weekly basis, our team members would come to school at 7:15 am for extra training in order to enhance their strength. They were tough in facing up to challenges and entered the final as a group winner. Eventually, they won the gold medal by defeating Po On Commercial Association Wong Siu Ching Secondary School. The game was 51:44 to us!

The Ho Yu track and field team also achieved great success. 81 of our students participated in the Inter-School Athletics Competitions 2022 – 2023 (Tsuen Wan & Island Secondary Schools Area). They went through intensive training in the morning, during recess and lunch break. S4A TO KING TO MARCUS won the gold medal in Boy’s B Grade 200m, while S4C CHOW ALWYN CHEUK TING won two gold medals in Boy’s B Grade Triple Jump and Boy’s B Grade 4X100m Relay!

The road to championship has never been easy. It is made up of blood, sweat, and tears. If you meet them at school, remember to show your appreciation for their hard work!

持之以恆日子有功

可譽同學於空手道屢獲嘉許

P5E招楚瑜同學自就讀小一級起，便接觸空手道活動，更因而深感興趣，一直不斷進行練習，努力改進技巧，精益求精，哪怕在過程中曾因疫情而減少練習機會。

自2021年起，憑着堅持及勤勞，他終修成正果，屢次在不同的空手道公開比賽中，獲取獎項，得到肯定。他近年獲取的佳績如下：

1. 2022南區空手道分齡邀請賽之9-10歲男童進陞組組手亞軍
2. 組手競技大會2022之男子10-11歲組手季軍
3. 2022油尖旺競技空手道聯賽之男子10-11歲組手亞軍
4. 2021年全港空手道青年大賽之男子8-9歲組手季軍

可譽謹在此祝賀P5E招楚瑜同學屢獲殊榮，並希望他能在空手道運動的發展上，更上一層樓，再創高峰，成為「我們的驕傲」。

Working hard with perseverance

Ho Yu child repeatedly won prizes in Karate tournaments

P5E Chiu Cho Yu Valentine came across the sports – Karate when he was in Primary 1. He was deeply interested in it and kept practicing it over and over. With a lot of practices, he strives to improve his skills to pursue perfection. Even if the practice opportunities were reduced due to the COVID pandemic, he never gave up.

From 2021, with his hard work and perseverance, he finally made a great achievement. He won prizes and received a lot of compliments in different Karate open tournaments. His efforts are recognized by the public. These are his achievements in recent years:

Ho Yu would like to congratulate P5E Chiu Cho Yu Valentine for winning many awards, and hope that he can reach a new level and new heights in Karate and be “our pride”.

第18屆離島區傑出學生選舉

            從以上檔案可見，倬珽的學業表現十分優秀，而活動及服務都十分活躍，故此獲老師推薦參加第18屆離島區傑出學生選舉。選舉當日，倬珽先與其他參選者一起討論時事新聞，比較香港與泰國的防疫政策；之後再作個人分享，他預備的講題是「健球的三大精神與日常生活應用」。倬珽是初中健球隊隊長，熱愛這項新興運動，原因之一便是這項運動的精神：尊重、包容及團隊合作。倬珽最終於云云同學中突圍而出，獲得季軍。

新界區傑出學生選舉2022

            由於倬珽於離島區傑出學生選舉獲首三名，故獲離島區傑生會推薦參加新界區傑出學生選舉2022。整個選舉為期三天，首天進行筆試，測試同學的中文、地理、中史及基本法知識。於第二天，倬珽與其他參選者到如心酒店進行學術研討會，教育局副局長施俊輝先生亦親臨作嘉賓，分享心得。於第三天，倬珽進行個人面試及小組討論。經過三天的遴選，倬珽喜獲「新界區優秀學生」的殊榮。

人生如馬拉松堅持者勝

            當談及成功心得，倬珽說：「人生如馬拉松，看看誰能堅持到最後。」他認為堅持是成功的關鍵，而當中的動力便是來自於興趣及目標。「對科目、活動的興趣、想獲取成就的渴求、及讀大學的目標，都是一直驅使我每天努力的動力﹗」除此之外，他亦參加不少學習以外的活動，他認為多元發展十分重要，可以從中豐富認知，開拓視野，日後能在生活或學習途中應用。

            倬珽最後想與所有同學分享他的座右銘：「人人渴望成才，人人努力成才，人人皆可成才，人人盡展其才」。希望大家在人生馬拉松中堅持到最後，跑出自己最好的成績，即使不是冠軍，也是人生的贏家！

The 18th Islands District Outstanding Student Award

Alwyn’s profile shows his excellent academic performance as well as enthusiastic participation in various activities and services. Therefore, he was nominated by our teacher to run for election of the 18th Islands District Outstanding Student Award. The election kicked off with discussions about current news and affairs. Students compared the anti-epidemic policies between Hong Kong and Thailand. Then, Alwyn delivered an individual sharing on “the three main spirits of Kin-Ball and its daily application”. Alwyn is the team leader of the Junior Secondary Kin-Ball Team. His passion for this rising sport can be attributed to the spirits behind: respect, inclusion and teamwork. Alwyn eventually stood out from the other students and won the second runner-up.

The Outstanding Student Election of New Territories 2022

Since Alwyn was the top 3 in the Outstanding Student Election of Islands District, he was nominated by the Islands Outstanding Student Union to run for the Outstanding Student Election of New Territories 2022. The election lasted for three days. On the first day, students sat for a written test to test their knowledge of Chinese, Geography, Chinese History and the Basic Law. On the second day, Alwyn attended an academic conference with other students at Nina Hotel. Under Secretary for Education, Mr. SZE Chun Fai, JP, visited as a guest and shared some insights with the youngsters there. On the final day, Alwyn attended an individual interview and a group discussion. After the three-day selection, Alwyn was honored as an “Outstanding Student of New Territories”.

Perseverance is the Key to Success

“Life is like a marathon. It’s all about perseverance,” said Alwyn. He believes that perseverance is the key to success, and he gets motivation from his interest and goal. “My interest in various subjects and activities, my desire to achieve something, and my goal to get to the university keep me working hard every day!”

Apart from that, he also engages in many extra-curricular activities, believing that diversity is crucial as it helps enrich our knowledge and broaden our horizons, which can be applied in both life and learning.

Last but not least, Alwyn would like to share his motto with all of you: “Aspires to be talented. Strives to be talented. Everyone can be talented and give full play to their talents.” We hope that every one of you could persist in this life marathon until you cross the finishing line. As long as you give your best shot, you will be a conqueror of life!

中四級同學參與由聖雅各福群會舉辦的Career Live職業體驗遊戲，透過模擬職業體驗活動，包括醫護、酒店款待、廣告、室內設計及電競等行業體驗，了解不同行業資訊、工作價值及態度，認識個人性格特質、興趣及能力，確立自我價值，探討個人與職業的關係，發掘自己的職業路向，鼓勵及促進學生開展生涯規劃並訂立個人目標，建立堅毅及職業無分貴賤的正向價值觀。

Our S4 students participated in “Career Live”, a role-playing activity organized by St James’ Settlement. Placed in workplace simulations, including healthcare, hospitality, advertising, interior design, e-sports, etc., students completed field tasks to the best of their abilities using the relevant tools. They then learnt about the entry requirements, nature and work situation of different professions, and reflected on their interests, abilities and what they learnt during a group evaluation session. The activity has enhanced their self-understanding and helped them set up their own career goals while developing positive values such as perseverance and “all jobs should enjoy equal status”.

「青苗學界進步獎」由青苗基金主辦，獅球教育基金會全力支持，獎項自1991年舉辦以來，多年來備受香港教育界讚譽。「青苗學界進步獎」銳意表彰同學們堅毅及積極進取的精神，表揚學生勇於在品德、服務及學業上求取進步、克服困難、建立自信、發揮個人潛能。

本學年，可譽共有20位同學獲得嘉許，得獎者包括S2B胡茵淇、S2B李鴻澤、S2C吳咏軒、S2D車梓灝、S3A鄒俊杰、S3B徐浩翔、S3B吳寶慈、S3D林浩宇、S4B鄭偉鵬、S4B李俊烽、S4C黃宇溱、S4C陳枝林、S5A林佳馨、S5B張莜晞、S5C杜詠希、S5D林耀威、S6A陳駿威、S6B馬卓瑤、S6C李一鳴及S6D張鉦唯。他們在學業或品德方面、在班上有最佳進步表現而獲獎。

The Youth Arch Student Improvement Award is organized by the Youth Arch Foundation with full support from Lion & Globe Educational Foundation. The award which is highly acclaimed by the education sector in Hong Kong recognizes students’ perseverance, motivation and courage to improve in character, service and academics. Demonstrating progress in overcoming difficulties, building self-confidence and developing personal potentials, a total of 20 students from Ho Yu were awarded the Youth Arch Student Improvement Award.

The awardees include S2B WU YAN KI, S2B LI HUNG CHAK, S2C NG WING HIN, S2D CHE ZI HAO CHERRY, S3A CHAU CHUN KIT, S3B XU HAOXIANG, S3B NG PO CHI, S3D LIN HO YU, S4B CHENG WAI PANG, S4B LI CHUN FUNG, S4C WONG YU TSUN, S4C CHEN ZHILIN, S5A LIN KAI HING, S5B CHEUNG YAU HEI, S5C TO WING HEI, S5D LIN YIU WAI, S6A CHAN CHUN WAI, S6B MA CHEUK YIU, S6C LI YIMING and S6D CHEUNG CHING WAI. We congratulate again the above students for their amazing performance in classes.
